Since so many people have horror stories to tell about vaccinations & such,
I figured I would post a happy story. (Note: This is not meant to rub
anyone's nose in anything. I just wanted to balance unhappy w/happy.)

Anyway, 3 of the 5 members of the Herd had to go to the vet today for their
annual checkup. I was worried because Slinky wound up with some greeny
watery diarrhea when I got back from vacation on Monday.

But everything went great! Slinky pooped on the vet tech when he tried to
take the temperature & the stool was formed well. Noel bled a little at
the injection site, but that didn't last long. We couldn't get Kyle's
temp., he wouldn't stay still! Everyone was up in weight & doing good
elsewhere. Hearts sounded good, no lumps or anything anywhere.

I had brought the distemper vaccine with me (thanks, Melanie) and thus
saved myself LOTS of dough. They got both distemper & rabies. No
reactions and we are at 1-1/2 hours post shots.

I am very happy that everything went so well and everyone is healthy. I
hope our luck holds out when Sandy & Gizmo have to go in November. :-)

Oh, & they made friends with a cute little black lab mix that had a tumor
removed from his tail. Very cute watching 3 hyper faces mashed against the
carrier door trying to get to the sloppy wet nose of the dog on the other
side!

I was playing ferret ambassador in the office when a couple with 3 kids
started asking questions. The kids were fascinated! I let them stick
their fingers in the carrier one at a time (don't worry, these 3 of the
Herd have NEVER bitten fingers) and Noel licked them. The kids squealed
in delight. It was great!

I can rest easy tonight.

Our condolences & prayers to all with sick fuzzies & fuzzies that have gone
to the Bridge. The Herd gets an extra hug for each one that Skeeter
greets.
