I have a small ferret shelter. One of my 4 year old boys is ill.
THERE ARE NO VETS WITHIN ANY AREA OF ME so we here usually treat our own.

He (off and on) goes through bouts of yellow watery mucous diarrhea which
leads to lethargy ad not eating so he is getting thin. He is usually
active and healthy and hungry and very protective of all my other
ferrets. I have him on amoxicillin and probiotic as well as ferretvite.
On good days he is fine and playful but when it hits he is totally
lethargic as if just weak or in pain. Does anyone know what this might
be or what I can try to treat it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

He is my alpha male and all would mourn him so (I would be heart-broken).
He has a very special personality and is very nurturing of the others.
Life would not be the same without him.

He has had no contact with outside ferrets in over a year so I do not
think it is something he caught. I have also tried changing foods when
I heard some ferret kibble causes diarrhea. I mix 4 different kids of
kibble together to keep them accepting changes in diet. Of the six
ferrets I have no one else is sick with the exception of one who has
adrenal disease and is on melatonin implants.

Please help I am desperate not to lose him. He is the greatest!
