Even though Galaxy D has not been approved for ferrets I will continue to
use it.

When distemper was brought into the shelter in 2002 all ferrets were
immunized with Galaxy D. We did not loose one ferret that had been
immunized with Galaxy D.

As for Ferrvac, and you can get this straight from the manufacture,
which I did. Feravac is noting but Distempamink repackaged and relabeled
in smaller lots. Distempamink is sold to mink farms in lots of 100.

After using Feravac to immunize 10 ferrets and 6 of 10 having reactions,
4 so bad they were at the emergency vet, one which had to be
hospitalized, that was enough for me. All had been pre treated with
benidryl.

And there are reactions to Purevac. There is no guarantee with any
vaccine that your ferret will not have a reaction to it. So far I
have not had one with Galaxy D, thank God, and I will continue to use
it. It works, it proved itself here.

To my knowledge, and if any one has had the experience, please correct
me, but the manufacture of Ferrvac and Purevac will not reimburse you
the medical cost you may incur because of a reaction to their product.

Canine Distemper is AIRBORNE, and immunization is a MUST. You can bring
it into your home unknowingly. If you do not immunize, you risk your
animals health.

It is 100% FATAL. You don't get a second chance with this one, all the
nursing in the world won't save them.

To me, it if you feel comfortable with Ferrvac, use it. If you are
comfortable with Purevac, use it. If you are comfortable with Galaxy D,
use it. It is your ferrets life on the line.

And as far as showing my personal ferrets, well, if they don't recognize
Galaxy D, then I just don't show. For me it isn't worth using Ferrvac
because of the risk of reactions, and Purvac isn't 100% safe either, and
costs twice as much as Galaxy.
