I have owned birds and ferrets for over 22 years and know first hand
that no matter how careful you are birds and ferrets do not mix. I have
had 2 birds killed by ferrets. I walked out of a room and less than a
minute one of my ferrets that I would have never suspected went into
the room, climbed up a curtain, got on top of a cabinet and killed a
conure. A different incident with a different ferret. A friend was
visiting and left the bird room door open. The ferret went in the bird
room and got one of my Senegal parrots who must have went on the floor
to investigate want was crawling on the floor. I can see why they have
a concern.
