Okay...

We've had Lewis, a 3-month old male Sable, for over a month now. He's been
more or less potty trained for a week or so.

We'd love for him to have free run of the place, but we live in an apartment.
So, we have recently bought him a 4'x4'x4' cage as restitution until we move
into our own house.

Anyway...that's the background.

We are having two problems that hope have solutions. First, he loves to dig
at his food dish. He digs it out and leaves it on the ground, rarely
touching it. So, even if it's full when we leave for somewhere, he ends up
being hungry because he's spread it all over the place. We are currently
trying a food despencer...the kind rabbits use. But, he still enjoys his
old habits.

Second, he digs at his litter box and spreads it all over. He tends to not
do it as much after he's used it a time or two, but that's no promise that
he'll leave it alone. We've sprayed bitter apple liberally on it and around
it, but it does nothing to discourage him. By the way, is our "Rubber Butt"
the only one who seems to actually be attracted to Bitter Apple?! <grin>

Some thoughts and advice would be wonderful. It's become quite insane.
Please send via EMAIL. I rarely have the time to peruse the digests.

Thanks!
