To answer the other parts of your question, will melatonin work.
 
Since it is likely an adenocarcinoma (based on return of sexual
behavior), I do not know if melatonin by itself will work.  Melatonin
can be used with Lupron or it can be used after the surgery to help the
haircoat come in quicker.  Lupron should be drawn up into syringes and
frozen for storage.  No one knows for sure how long it can be stored
frozen.  Defrost and give the injections into a muscle (rear leg).
