To Pat Smith about Dilbert et al... I'd suggest FertBert as a sidekick for
DogBert....and as for jobs, how about "VP / Logistics & Relocation"?

To Cherri about skinny ferrets: I had a female once who weighed less than a
pound her enitre life - she was VERY skinny and delicate... and in perfect
health.  She lived for 10-1/2 years and only became relatively feeble in the
last 6 months of her life.  But she ate like a little pig and was very
active --- fat wouldn't have been fashionable I guess... She was a great
fashion-ferret.  Stole my jewelry and scarves on a regular basis, and was a
very fastidious little fert.  She is the one who used to close doors behind
her when she was done plundering...
 
To Carl & Lauren: about your lethargic ferret.  We had a 6 y.o.  named
Xerxes that had what sounds exactly like the reaction you describe, but it
didn't manifest until after he came out of anesthesia (or didn't, as the
case may be) from a minor surgery... we almost lost him, but the vet
dianosed Congestive Heart Disease and put him on Lasix.  This kept him
breathing by drying up the fluid in his chest cavity, but had the
side-effect of making it difficult for his body to process proteins
efficiently, so he lost weight like crazy, and eventually his muscles
deteriorated.  He lived another year on the Lasix, but eventually even that
couldn't prevent a total congestive heart failure, once his body became so
weak from the Lasix causing him to be unable to process proteins... I'm
hardly a professional or expert, but that was my experience with what you
were describing.  To Courtney about your ferrets not liking ferret-specific
food...neither do mine!!!  They won't eat it--- they bury it!  It ends up
being used as floor decorations.  SO they eat high protein cat food and seem
to do quite well on it.  I've had ferrets for 16 years or so and they've all
done quite well on cat food, as long as you make sure they get the higher
protein content.  As for soft coats...Silk is the softest ferret I've ever
felt----he feels kind of like a rabbit.  But he also is the "spookiest"
ferret I've ever seen --- he runs at the slightest sound or movement -- and
runs FASTER than I've ever seen a ferret go!  But he's quite tame when you
can catch him and pick him up.  Go figure.  I don't know if that's
coincidence or not, but my SO says his fur is so soft because he won't let
anyone ever touch it... LOL
