It was us that said that. We'll say it again. The original manufacturer
of Galaxy-D, Solvay, has often said not to use Galaxy-D in ferrets. One
shelter that still wanted to use the product anyway had to sign waivers
just to order it.

We have not heard from the current owners of the product.

We'd recommend tying what we do for long distance ferret shows. It was a
similar drive for us from Virginia to Minnesota. But you'll have more heat
to deal with.

We use Pet Escort carriers mostly - far cheaper than the others as they are
not up to airline standards. We don' have water bottles or bowls in the
crates while driving - all you'll get is messy unhappy wet ferrets. Instead
we offer them water every hour or so. We slip the spout of a bottle in the
door. We don't usually have to much food in while driving either. We offer
them some at about the same times. If your air conditioner isn't enough you
can put plastic bottles with ice in them in the crates to help cool them.

A trip like this is a lot of strain on a ferret - more than a flight in our
opinion - so you might have to break your groups up smaller.

We also use what we call show cages that are regular ferret cages about the
same size as these carriers - they cost more but have better air flow.

The black footed ferret is endangered due to the reduce population of the
black tailed prairie dog. Both are endangered at least in some areas. Most
estimates seem to put the BT PD as down to 1 or 2% of its old population.

>Ferret lovers, at least those in the US, don't see their ferrets as "only
>pets", they see them as family and not as expendable working animals.

Working animals are not always seen as expendable. Ask any of the country
boys in the South about their coon dogs sometimes. They rather lose their
wife than their dog. <grin>

We won't convince you and you won't convince us with your usual arguments.
You submitted approximately the same post to another list so we won't go
into details here.

Everybody, don't worry about using these oils as they are fine. But use
them sparingly. Dilute if you please but it isn't necessary.

This hasn't been a problem for us.

Yup thats an albino ferret. The All about Bandit shelter I believe sells
copies of that print. Check contact info in the shelter update that just
came out. Sorry if I misremembered Jim and Carol...

We agree with that statement.
