Just proposing an alternative and immediate solution to the ohio- mckay
situation-

could any good private ferret breeders out there offer to purchase his
business ( both as legal technical term and as the group of ferrets :)
from him & his kids? officially - taking the name & all rights with the
purchase of it?

They are likely not making much money off it all right now - especially
selling as fur - so even if the breeder ( or a group of breeders) of
pet ferrets could salvage some for their stock and then all of the
rescues who have offered could take the rest as sanctuary it should not
cost all that much & then all would be over in this instance and free
up energy & resources to change & enfoirc the laws to prevent further
like occurances-

isuggest breeders because one they can use the new genetic stock and
two they actually make a profit as opposed to rescues that are striclty
not-for profit- it could also be a joint venture- but the main point is
to purchase all of the ferrets and the rights to operate as a breeder
from the mckay family- it sounds like the daughters arent that crazy
about it anyway - the minks and the son are an entirely different
issue and certainly shoulod be followed up- on for their health etc-
but we muct stay focused on the ferrets as they are more likely to be
rehabilitated and derive benefit from such a 'rescue' operation-
