Thanks to all who wrote me a month or so back about the stair/ferret issue.
I am pleased to announce that we have a new home! I finally made the jump
to homeowner. We moved in almost a week ago. And guess what?! We have
stairs now, for the first time in our little fuzzy lives. What a great toy
stairs are! All four of the little monsters mastered them in about fifteen
minutes. The boys got the concept in about 2 seconds and proceeded to
dance with joy they were having so much fun. Unfortunately, they were on
the stairs at the time and you just can't war dance on 10 inches. Thus
came lesson two very quickly on the heels of lesson one- How to Apply the
Brakes When Rolling Down Hill. Happily, the little fuzzbutts are virtually
indestructible. Now we race up the stairs and down the stairs and up the
stairs and down the stairs. Exhausting. Even little blind Tazrat got the
concept faster than I thought she would. It took a little coaxing to get
her to make that first step off into the Great Unknown, but after that she
was fine (and slow).

Again, thanks to all who encouraged me and soothed my worries. You were
all right. The weinie rats have had absolutely no problems at all. Now,
we'll see how long I last before I break an arm or leg trying to not step
on one while going down. Currently that is one of our favorite games-
Attack the Mom on the Stairs. Weasels!!!
