For those of you who are not sure if Pine bedding is a health hazard to
small animals-just look it up on askjeeves.com, or alta vista or excite
search engines. Do not just believe what an individual writes on FML.
Any of us could believe we are correct---and be wrong.

Or read rabbit health newsletter Nov. 1991 or US Department of Human
Services National Institute of Health Pamphlet No. 86-23. Even lab
animals that are going to be killed should not be in pine bedding
according to this. Or ask your small animal vet.

Pine can cause not just respiratory distress and lung damage but also liver
disease. How long this would take per animal was not discussed in the 5
minutes I searched. It is possible that there are no reliable studies on
just how many hours or days it would take per small animal. No reason to
believe me. Just spend a few minutes looking for yourself.

The Lupron Dilemna

Lupron in Chicago is too expensive for me. I could only find one vet who
will start to administer it MONTHLY ONLY. A full blood test, adrenal panel
[am I saying that right?] possible x-rays and monthly shot would run up Big
bucks!!. Then the panel and exam are to be repeated every 3 or 4 months!!.
It is nothing like the $180. every 5 or 6 months you guys wrote me about:
not here in Chicago with this vet.

Thank you all for the info. I had just thought I would do the 4 month
Lupron shot. The vet won't consider doing this: good reasons and all.
Drug is experimental still you know.

Now don't go offering me money. I know there is a good chance someone will
e-mail me about this. I feed dozens of wild animals that are in bad shape
after the summer long drought on my porch 5 to 10 pounds of food each
night, feed well over 60 large birds that have lost their feeding grounds
when acres were torn up here at summers end, have daily fed the fish, small
birds, squirrels, donate to shelters and good causes, and have a small zoo
of discarded stinkers at home.

All my choice. Can't have everything. I knew that all along. At some
point one has to say- that is too much money. We all have different points
is all.

Thanks for all your info and good wishes. Who knows: maybe one of you
knows a vet around Chicago doing the 4 month Lupron shot.

Bless us-every one
Lisette
