Both of my ferrets, Taz and TJ, will stash food.  They have always done this
and I just figure that they are being ferrets.  They have one small box in
the little bedroom that they have access to that always has some food in it
for a snack.  Both of their food sources are located at their cage.  They
have a bowl in the cage and a J feeder outside of the cage that they always
eat at.  The cute part is that Taz watched me fill the J feeder a couple of
weeks ago (they got that feeder a year ago at Christmas) and has decided
that the food taken from the top of the feeder taste better.  To get to it
though he has to climb part way up the cage then move over onto the feeder
and then go down into it to get to the kibble (it was about half empty at
this time).  He does all this for one piece of kibble and then drops down to
eat it.  Silly ferret!
