OK,
I am going to try very hard to word this so as not to offend. Maybe animals
are not for you. It really sounds like you are trying, but I have to say
that I have lived with animals my whole life, and all of them have a smell.
It is part of being a biological organism. Humans smell too, we just bathe
(or at least some of us do). Without deoderants and soap and perfumes
applied on a daily basis, your smell would put your ferrets to shame. Some
people are very sensitive to the smells of animals, and cannot tolerate it.
These individuals should re-think the whole pet ownership idea. All animals
smell. You cannot get them 100% scent free. I have six, and to be honest,
I don't even smell them anymore at all. The only time they stink to me is
when it is time to clean the cage.

If the smell bothers you this much, and you cannot overlook it, than please
do your ferret a favor and find him an experienced loving family, or a
quality ferret shelter to take your animal.

Too tell you the truth, I like the smell of my ferrets, I find it comforting
and familiar :). Occasionally, I have to travel for up to a week at a time.
While out of town, if I can find a pet store that has ferrets, I will go out
of my way to cuddle them, and the smell always reminds me of home. I call
this getting my ferret fix <g>.
