I am intrigued with the thought of a vasectomised hob in the 60's/70's.
After some research I have come up with the following:-
In NZ fitch farmers were using 'spent' hobs to bring jills out of season.
It would appear that the first vasectomies were carried out in the UK
about 1983 on two hobs belonging to Fred J Taylor and Alec Martin. The vets
concerned were Tuckett and Gray of Aylesbury the vet who performed the
operation was a Mr Ireland. The procedure cost #15 plus VAT and it was
successful as both hobs went on to perform their duties with enthusiasm.
