142 ferrets still needing santas. Please, if you can afford to, pick
another fuzzy from the tree. As others have mentioned, even a $10 gift
certificate will be appreciated. If you choose a gift certificate from
www.ferretdepot.com, I think you need to call in the order to not have
the shipping added in your cart. There aren't shipping charges on gift
certificates because they are sent on-line, but the cart can't
differentiate between items or a gift certificate. If you pick more
than one ferret from a shelter and combine gift certificates that
gives the shelter more to spend!

I was one piece in the placement of the ferrets from Japan. I'm not
sure who all was involved but I know that the KC Ferret Hotline group
in Kansas City and Kevin near St Louis helped with this placement.
Cheryl from the KC group drove to Columbia to meet Kevin who picked
them up in or near St. Louis. The little ones got to stay over night
at Cheryls (and get cleaned up after being in carriers for a prolonged
time during transport) before Cheryl drove them to Topeka to meet
Autumn and Nate who then transported them to my house and put them in
the cage while I was at work. Thank you to everyone involved in helping
the little ones reach our home.

Yep they are a bit nippy and they have pressure in those jaws but the
benefit is my reflexes are getting faster. I'm not sure but I think
they might be learning a new vocabulary too. ;-) They are getting use
to our routine and come out from sleeping/hiding spots for recipe when
they hear me up in the morning and right after I get home from work in
the evenings. They weren't use to my recipe so to get them started I
dip my finger in and smear a little on their mouths. They have to lick
it off, the next step is letting them lick the recipe off my fingers,
which is working well so far. They are still quite skittish around me
and the girls (dogs), but blend right in with the fuzzies. As with my
regular group, if I haven't seen someone that day, I go searching for
them to make sure they are o.k. Gem and Scoot still stalk me but they
also bounce when I gingerly scritch their backs. They think I shouldn't
change the soiled papers and guard them quite boldly, so that is a task
trying to not get got while changing papers. I think they have paper
changing radar because they can be sound asleep and as soon as I start,
2 or 3 show up! The mop, broom, and vacuum are all challenged too.
Since cleaning is done each and every day they get plenty of exercise!

Now back to the trees please!
