In regards to your dilution of bleach, I would suggest a 1 part bleach to
32 parts water (ie 1/2 cup to a gallon of water).  Also would recommend
rinsing to reduce any irritation to the respiratory tract (people and
animals).  Jerry Murray, DVM
 
[Personal note from Sukie: having had a ferret who found and licked
up one or two drops of bleach present with projectile vomiting with
blood I also advise drying everything well afterwards.]
