There hasn't been very much traffic lately, so maybe I could kick off a little
bit of discussion: what sort of housing arrangements do your ferrets have?

We have two cages, roughly 24 inches square by 16 inches high. Originally
called "Medium Rabbit hutches". Our two female ferrets occupy one, and
the male the other. Inside the cages we have some shallow litter pans
(shallow for a cat that is) plus food dish, water dish (girls only, Toby
drinks from a bottle) and lots of towels that they avidly snuggle into.
The preferred towels are the velvetine type - terry-cloth type get mangled
in a matter of days. They seem to be quite happy in the cages. The cages
are pretty roomy given the ferret's size, and the ferrets have no hesitation
about going back into the cage on their own for food, water or sleeping
when they're allowed out (several hours a day).

I've been thinking about adding a nesting box to the cages, but don't want
to alter them if possible - when we travel around we do use the big cages,
so they have to remain fairly intact. We have kennel-cabs, but they're a
lot smaller so we only use them for short trips.

We have tried certain types of plastic container inside the cages, but two
of our ferrets are avid furniture movers... :-) Which explains why the
food dishes have the word "DOG" on them :-) They weigh about 5 pounds each...

What do the people out there use?
