Just to clarify, there are two different wysong "Archetype" ferret foods.
I'm not quite sure why one is so much more expensive than the other:

has it for 11.95 for 3 lbs -- the first ingredient here is chicken.

is 14.95 for 7.5 oz.  -- the first ingredient here is beef.
 
This doesn't answer the question as to why it is so expensive, but here

It seems that Archetype 1 is freeze-dried or something similar, and the
website says something about reconstituting it with water.Is it possible
that perhaps a very small (light) amount goes a long way?  I know a
couple of ounces of freeze-dried camping food can have the nutritive
value of a pound or so of reconstitued food.  Anyone know?
