I would like to say that we have a Petco here in Syracuse NY that, in my
opinion, does a fantastic job. I've have never seen the ferrets too
crowded, the cage dirty, out of food or water, or a sick ferret that
wasn't taken care of (I've actually never seen a sick ferret there).
Additionally, they got a rather young shipment of ferrets from Marshall
Farms (the eyes were certainly open). When I asked to hold one of the
these guys they refused and said policy was to not let anyone hold them
for 48 hours after they had arrived in the store.

This Petco does a great job, why? I beleive they have a few ferret people
as employees. I've talked to them and they are very knowledgable, and you
can tell they really like ferrets.

I always make a point of telling the managers at this Petco what a great
job I think they are doing. On the other hand, we have a pet store at
the mall in which the ferrets are in not such good shape. The store, in
general, smells. The ferrets look dirty and everytime I've had them get
one out of the glass sided and wire bottomed enclosure they have had a
little prolapsed rectum.

So whenever I talk to someone about ferrets I always mention SHELTERS, then
if shelters don't work out I tell them our Petco does a good job. So not
all Petco's are the same!
