The vote to decide whether to create a new "rec.pets.ferrets" newsgroup is
now in progress.  Anyone with an opinion is entitled and encouraged to vote;
there are no special qualifications, it's not difficult, and you don't have
to be a computer expert.

Voting for rec.pets.ferrets ends today (Wednesday) at midnight GMT (8 p.m.
Eastern time). In order to be created, a new group needs at least 100 more
YES votes than NO votes, and at least 2/3 of the votes cast must be YES.
Last time the group was proposed, it failed, 114 YES to 17 NO.

You might be able to find the Call For Votes article at
<news:[log in to unmask]>
(a different link from the one Roger mentioned a few days ago). This
article hasn't expired, though it might not be on your news server any more.

You can also ask for a copy of the ballot directly from the volunteer
votetaker by sending a brief note to <[log in to unmask]>. Be
sure to mention rec.pets.ferrets, since he runs more than one vote at a
time.

You can also read it at
<http://x11.dejanews.com/getdoc.xp?AN=360538058&CONTEXT=0> This is the
easiest way to read the CFV, but the hardest way to vote. I've been told
by the votetaker that some of the HTML codes that DejaNews puts in
interfere with the automatic vote-counting software, so if you use that
ballot, DON'T use the "mail your ballot to" link. Instead, write a
separate email message to the voting address and copy the ballot section
in, exactly as it appears in your browser (without any HTML tags).
