I responded privately to the person inquiring about scales, then decided
that others might be interested. I found (after searching all over) a
scale at Lechter's, a mall kitchen supply store (chain), which weighs in
oz/lb and gr/kg. Its capacity is 2kg which is roughly equal to 4.5 lbs.
This should accommodate MOST ferrets. It was around $40. It has a flat
weighing space so you would need a basket or something to put the ferret
in (unless they're very cooperative <g>). It also does tare weight, then
tells you how much the added item weighs by itself, so you don't have to
do any math.

I needed a gram scale for weighing wildlife but decided to go ahead and
get one that would weigh at least 2kg so I could weigh the ferrets also. I
had been through every medical and restaurant supply place I could find,
including hospitals, and had no luck. I just stumbled onto this one
accidentally.
