Kim,

So because Maren feels the way she does about snakes and I feel the way
I do about feeding live animals to ferrets we are closed mined people?

I am really trying not to take to heart the subtle insults being thrown
my way, BUT its hard.

And while I understand that BIG is not wishing to start the raw /
kibble debate I do have every right to respond to a post that offended
me and many others publicly. "I'd go directly to them, as opposed to
this list." Thank you for your though but NO I will not do that. This
medium is just fine as it is for Kim.

I don't think I was "Slappin Kim around." Why should my post seem
harsh when she can say things like: "AM I condoning feeding ferrets to
snakes? NOT at all! They should feed rabbits instead!" which is clearly
baiting me. OH an lets not forget... "I refuse to feed my ferrets crap
in a bag."

If Kim were trying to make ONLY the point to Maren about her pushing
laws then why bring up the idea of feeding live pray? Why go into such
detail? Why would you tell us the 2 of your ferrets are eating a mouse
you threw away because it no longer is producing for you?

You could have stopped after explaining to Maren what you knew would be
helpful to her. Which I am indeed grateful for as it seems was helpful.

NEXT-

>She did NOT read the post with a calm or clear head.

Just how do you know? Do not ever attempt to say how I am feeling.

>Animals have evolved eating other animals and have flourished because
>of it - hence the predator/prey connotations - there's always a bigger
>fish - what was a predator becomes prey for another, its as simple as
>that

Right....IN THE WILD!!

>My ferrets have enjoyed a wide range of whole prey from feeder insects
>to mice and rats to chicks and guinea pigs. Many of these "feeder
>animals" can, were or could be companion animals, but for my ferrets
>they were simply - dinner.

Did you really think you would NOT get a response? From quite a few
folks who have email me privately they do not bother to respond to you
and equate you with Ed. They simply pass by your post. Sorry though I
am not one who will sit by and not speak.

"AS for the use of "feeder animals", I've said numerous times that some
animals' lot in life is to eat, some to be eaten."

Really? So why then does Mother Nature give them defense mechanisms?
All animals, in the wild, have some sort of defense. You talk of
throwing rabbits to snakes inside a cage with no way to protect itself.
This is NOT as nature intended. Again who are you to say?

That is all I have to say about this. Please understand it is not you
I dislike, by no means, it is your practices. And yes everyone has the
right to their opinion, but maybe next time it would be best to think
before you speak especially to an "animal lover group."

SIDENOTE:

>Our office is located in a very crime-ridden area

As someone who has been to Maren's office I am 100% confirm that the
above statement is TRUE. I would carry around there and I hate guns.
