Hello again everyone. We're in a bit of a quandary here: It seems that our
vet and us had a misunderstanding about how many shots our ferrets needed to
be fully vaccinated. The pet store we had purchased they from (they were
13-14 weeks of age) said that they had had two shots already, so we assumed
they only needed 1 more. We found out quite embarrassingly that our vet
thinks they only got 1 and needed two more shots when we went to the Humane
Society last week to adopt a cat (finally living in a pets-allowed apartment
complex!): the counselor who handled interviews w/ prospective adoptees
glared at us and said in an accusatory voice, "Your vet says that you
brought your ferrets in once and never came back after that!" So we called
the vet's to see what was up, and sure enough, according to their records
(which somehow do not coincide w/ the pet store they came from) they needed
one more shot --- nice to find out right then from an irate and now
suspicious counselor than from our vet, who didn't say anything at all about
them needing to come back for another shot when we had them there for their
1st (after being purchased).

Just to be safe, we're going to have another vet give them another set of
shots (we're not just switching because of this one incident, previously
they had Molly (hernia-girl) in the same cage w/ a sick ferret right after
she had her operation, and then all four ferrets came down w/ ECE-like
symptoms afterwards). (No, don't ask me who the vet is; just because we
have personally had problems w/ this particular vet doesn't mean that he or
she is a bad one)) but we're not quite sure of what shots exactly to give
them. Their annual vaccination visit (or so we thought) is coming up
anyway, so a little earlier wouldn't hurt them, would it? They are all
about 10 1/2 months old right now: should they have 1 canine distemper shot
(since according to the FAQ they only need 1 more shot if previously
vaccinated) + another rabies shot, or should we go through the entire 3-shot
series again?
