And what I wrote before I read the FML (thank God people are finally
standing up for Nell and her plight)... and will post to try to help
Nell. For anyone who still does not get it - there is plenty of info
below - now either help or get over it and stop being a hater, please.

OK Here goes: I've given time, money, prayers, transportation, physical
labor, food - whatever I could so many times in my life I can't
remember even half of them. I don't see this as something to get
praised for - I see it as my Christian duty - God wants me to - so
I do.

Here's a kindness that really needs a little doing by a lot of people
to help 1 older lady and her dogs, cats and ferrets get back to the US.

Nell moved to Ethiopia to start a business about 6 years ago. That
business would have enriched her golden years and also the lives of the
people in the village where she lives and for people in the country,
Ethiopia - she really gave it her all to do good for MANY people.

She was all in, failure was not an option, yet failure is being forced
on her by people who only care about themselves - 3rd world nation,
corrupt government. Read for yourself - or do your own research -

The government there has become unstable and it is not safe for
"foreign investors" like Nell - REALLY NOT SAFE - OK really dangerous.
The government is also making it extremely difficult for her to sell
the equipment she bought to start the business, so she can raise money
to leave the country. She is selling everything she has left (theft has
been a big problem there also) to raise money as the government allows.
But the government keeps creating new hoops for her to jump through,
making it harder for her to sell her possessions, foisting fee this and
fine that on her, to take money from her.

She needs to leave the country before conditions deteriorate like they
once did in Rwanda, with hundreds of thousands of people being

GOUREVITCH] There is a whole wide world beyond the United States of
America and much of it is NOT PRETTY.

Back to Nell - Although she really needs to leave, she will not forsake
her animals - 3 dogs, 2 cats and 2 ferrets. The animals would die a
horrible death if she leaves them behind. She lives on disability so
she does not have a lot of money for tickets. Her savings all went to
startup costs for a business that would have helped so many others.

Her friends here in the US are trying hard to help her raise the money
to get everyone home to the US. She is embarrassed being in this
situation and having to rely on help to afford travel expenses for her
pets, she has always stood on her on feet and helped others - now it
is she who needs help.

But there are a couple of people here in the US who are saying really
nasty things about her, accusing her of being a scammer, and
downplaying the direness of her situation. This talk, even after Nell
has made full disclosure of what is going on and why, may be keeping
nice, good-hearted people from donating each a little to help her get
home with her "family".

With times so very hard right now for so many it really will take a lot
of people giving just a little to help Nell and her furkids get home.

in Texas until she can get back on her feet - she will have lost
everything, trying so hard to create something good in Ethiopia. Here,
