Dooks to everyone, condolences to all who've had their babies cross the
bridge.

While the kid and I were amusing the ferrets the other night, and I was
talking to them all and telling Sara about the name thing, she looked at me
and said, "So, have you told how all ours got their names?"

So here you go:
Socks-El Presidente, Sockers, Sockowocko, Socks Man, Sockytocky. Named
when he came to us. Came to us in July, our first ferret. Silver mitt,
calm, regal. Brought in Kit, and not knowing any better, introduced them
immediately and almost lost Socks to ECE. Through his & my determination
for him to live, the help of lots of FML'ers, my vet, many prayers and
sleepless moments, the boyo made it through. His name for me--Treat woman.
Kit-Kitling, Kitalinka, Otter butt, Princess Alonwy, Fraulein General. I
wanted to call her Mab, but Larry held her and said, "No. It's Kit." and
so it was. Leader of the FLO in our house. Beautiful, petite panda sable,
came to us about 5-6 weeks old from the pet/feed store. Stole everyone's
heart when she hit the door. Loves to get into my purse and steal the
keys, wallet & checkbook (another shop till you drop lady, obviously). Her
name for me--the Giver of Rides, Runner of Water.

Genie-Jenetta Ferretetta, Houdini Genie, the Flying Wombat. Named by Sara
because she appears and disappears faster than a Genie can. Pale, pale
cinnamon, ruby eyed, petite, who absolutely loves to bite me! I think she
thinks my hide is tougher than it is, because its always when we play she
goes for me! Comes out of the cage in the morning giving kisses, trying to
clean my arms, then starts in. If I have panty hose on she, Kit, Scully,
and Suzy Derkins love to try to climb my legs (hmmm, new name for hose
runners). Finally outsmarted them-when I'm in a dress and around them I
have on sweatpants-talk about a fashion statement. Genie's name for
me-Mine & Giver of Rides.

Scully-Scullytetta, Scullywog, Evil Woman(the kid dubbed her this).
Genie's sister. We were trimming her nails the first night, she was trying
to fight, and I said, "No, Scully". That was it. Ruby eyed, petite, sable
girl. Shy a lot of times, but loves it when she and I wardance together.
Will bite strangers, and for a time would rush Sara and draw blood. Now
they get along. Her name for me--Dance Calvin-Spaceman Spiff, Walrus Butt.
We love Calvin & Hobbes, what else can I say. Large, and do I mean large,
sable male. He and his sister, Suzy Derkins, were my Christmas presents
from Larry & Sara. Fun to watch him wardance, he's so big. Tries to be a
bully, but Mookie puts him in his place. His name for me---Play time!

Suzy Derkins-Suzetta Ferretetta. Again, Calvin & Hobbes--she was always
smarter than Calvin. Petite panda cinnamon. Loves to wardance, be bounced
in blankets and sheets. Her name for me--Sheet flipper Mookie--Mookman,
Mookus Tookus, Mookie Tookie. If they ever define what a Mookie is,
they'll need this guy's pic in the dictionary. He just was Mookie. My big
badger/blaze boy. Came to me from Pass Pets. He'd been there since before
Christmas, and in February they lowered the prices. I'd watched this guy
from day one, and when I saw him with price reduced, did the "Bambi eyes"
to Larry, worked out the money and brought him home. Just really learned
how to wardance. His name for me--Safe Keeper.

I've assigned them all ranks in the FLO, but Socks is the Pres. of all of
them. Kit, as the general, seems to orchestrate everything. Genie-she's
like a recon soldier, in and out before you realize it, stealing, checking
you out, general mayhem. Scully's the secret agent (possibly double
agent). Calvin's agent Walrus Butt, Suzy is staff sargent, and Mookie is
the special ops section. I've read about people who do/don't like MF
ferrets. All of mine are, and all but Socks & Mookie came from a pet/feed
store. Mookie was from a pet store.

The endearing qualities. I don't think Bill has enough room to list all
the endearing qualities they have. I never thought I'd like them, and I
don't--I love them. When I'm not feeling well, or have a headache and
they're out, they come up and nuzzle and kiss. In the evenings when I'm
with them, if I'm reading a book, they're all over it, checking it out for
obscene material, pictures, you name it. Shower time is a blast for all of
us, and normally I'm drying off the wet ones under the blankets while
they're shooting around, tubing in the bed! When Chewie was so sick and I
thought I'd lose him, the babies were always near me, and they treat Chewie
with the utmost care and Beautiful creatures.

As for speed bumps---ferrets have the ability to do this, and I think its
to check and see how agile their humans are. Nothing is funnier to a group
of ferrets that watching the designated 'bump' flatten out in front of
someone, especially when the human is carrying something and has to do all
sorts of gyrations around the bump! This in turn brings about a flurry of
wardancing, dooking, and lots of chuckles from the furr blurs.

Rebecca & the other two human slaves
and those that really own the house:
Socks, Kit, Genie, Scully, Calvin, Suzy Derkins & Mookie
The cats--Chewie, Dribble, Sarabi & Tigger.
