Yikes! I go on vacation for five days and come back to find all sorts of
legal news. I am so sorry to hear about Kodo! I hope that it will not be
too late to phone or FAX a letter to the appropriate people. In any case, I
will definitely be contributing to the legal fund. This type of thing just
shouldn't happen. I took my guys out to the park last week and they had a
great time running around the playground, but I'm not sure if I'll be doing
that anymore. There were so many little kids there crowding around and
wanting to pet the ferrets. I'm beginning to realize what a tenuous
position Delta and Epsie would be in if *anything at all* were to happen.

On a happier note, congratulations to California for making it past the
Appropriations Committee! The sooner ferrets are legalized there, the
sooner I can start working in San Diego. (My boss in California is paying
me to work out of state for the next three years in the hopes that ferrets
will be legal by then.) I do have one question/concern, though, which I hope
somebody can answer. I sent a letter to Carole Migden about two weeks ago
and did *not* receive the form letter response that everyone else seems to
have gotten from her. I have also written to several other senators and
congressmen, especially those in San Diego, as well as the Audobon Society
and the Sierra Club, and have not received responses from any of them. I am
mostly worried that for some reason my letters are not reaching them.
(Often I have found several addresses for each representative. Are some
addresses better than others?) Assuming that my letters are getting through
all right, is it possible that they are just ignoring them since I am not
currently a resident of California? I would hope that this is not the case,
especially since I explain in my letters how the laws in California are
directly affecting me. Anyway, all of this is making me a little paranoid.
I do want to feel that my letters are making a difference. If any other
letter writers out there would care to share their experiences with me
(private e-mail is fine), I would be most grateful.
