A few have asked about Amy Dempsey's status in St. Croix and I don't know
if she'll have consistent enough access to the 'net to post her status
herself, so I'm taking the liberty of doing so.

Amy sent me e-mail yesterday saying everyone is ok. They lost power,
naturally, so they're running on generators. Apparently her link to the
outside world was good enough that she got an e-mail message off to me.
Amy said winds gusted to 140 mph but they experienced minimal damage.

Now it's heading our way and Miami is in a hurricane warning situation. If
the situation warrants it, all shelter ferrets will be moved into a very
stable, steel beam and cement block warehouse. This warehouse withstood
the full force of Hurricane Andrew's 190+ mph winds, so it should be just
fine during Georges. If Georges doesn't get much stronger, it'll be a cake
walk in comparison to Andrew.

Personally, the hurricane shutters are up and I have a good supply of
Beenie Weenie and Chef Boyarde canned Ravioli. :-) Got plenty of 2 liter
coke bottles of frozen water and enough ferret supplies to last a month.

Hope to see you all here real soon!

For the ferrets,
Mike
