I have a five yr old male ferret (Shoshoni) that I rescued who was probley
swung by his tail on many occasions. His tail is hard as a rock in a hook
shape, with noticeable factures and large lumps from trying to heal.
Problem is the lumps are now growing and a decision has been made to take
the tail off so his health is not in jeopardy. I'm concerned about how
Shoshoni will deal with this change. Does anyone or has anyone dealt with
this first hand. Will he have any trouble with balancing? Ferrets seem to
get along okay with most handicaps. I have several rescues who were badly
abused, all who are doing great now. I just would like a bit of info
before the surgury so I know what to expect. If you have any helpful
information on tailessness please e-mail me.

Also I want to thank all who donated to SOS, and the fantastic ladys who
run it. The donation to our vet was the beginning of a bright new yr.
We really appreciated it. Our medical bills are growing fast, most of
the shelter kids are 5 yrs old and older, and beginning to show signs of
illness. Thanks so much to all of you who donated.
