Ok, we've all heard the stories about ferrets and their great escapes.
Well, I've got a story here that is not quite an escape, but...well,
just read on.

Our furkids have a ferret safe room that they have free roam of at all
times. Last night my fiancee, Mike, was cleaning the ferts litter boxes.
To make things easier and to make sure there was litter boxes still
available (he usually does them all at once), he did the cleaning in 2
batches. First the boxes outside the cage were cleaned, filled and put
back where they belong, while the ferrets were kept in their cage(door
latched securely since several of them have opening the door down to a
science, by biting ahold of the cage & pushing with their front feet).
Then he did the cage boxes, leaving the ferts back out and closing the
cage door to keep the ferrets out of the cage to prevent any surprise
poopies where the litter boxes go. They have plenty of places to sleep
or hide in, and another food/water area outside the cage as well, so they
had access to all neccessities.

While the cage boxes were air drying some, I peeked in their room to check
on them, and they were all sound asleep in one of their favorite sleeping
spots outside the cage. I jokingly said to Mike, "Wouldn't it be funny if
we looked in here, and saw Fria curled up in her hammy in the cage?" Fria
being our master of mischief, finding her way into just about any area we
don't want her to get to (we've decided the Mission Impossible theme song
is Fria's song). Anyhow, the only reason I made this joke was because the
top of the cage flips open to access the upper level, and it was closed,
but not latched.

Well, when it came time to put the boxes back in the cage after air
drying, Mike was surprised to find the bottom cage door open, and several
ferrets happily curled up in the cage snoozin away. Apparently, someone
decided they were tired of waiting for someone to open the cage door, and
did it themselves. He hadn't latched the door the "special" way that he
does to keep them in, it was just latched normally. We're not sure who
did it, but someone was determined to get in. :-)

Sorry for the long message, but thought some of you might enjoy this cage
break in story.
