Housing Your Ferret

Ferrets are people oriented. They must have human contact every day, just
like a child. They bond to their people and become very depressed when left
to sit in a wire cage constantly. Never keep a ferret in a glass aquarium -
it does not provide fresh ventilation or temperature control, poor
sanitation (bacteria growth), and can cause respiratory problems. Your
ferrets' wire cage should be about 24"x24"x18". A multi-level wire cage is
even better if the ferret is caged while you are at work or overnight.
Recommended creature comforts: small pieces of vinyl tile square flooring or
carpet remanents, litter pan, water bowl/bottle, food bowl, hammock, towels
or old t-shirts/jeans with the zipper and buttons removed. Please do not
use cedar or pine shavings for their bedding, due to the respiratory ill
effects it causes.
