I recently asked Dr. Williams, on the Ferret Health List, this same
question.  I was attempting to get a very advanced adrenal ferret from a
woman so that he could be taken care of.  She asked what would happen if
not treated.  I felt my answer was inadequate and asked for input at the
FHL.  The link below will take you to a response from Dr. Williams.  It
think it says it all.
 
(BTW, the FHL archives is fabulous.  I found this post in less than a

I will also send to you separately a photo taken of a tumor removed from
another recent adrenal surgery.  I wouldn't want something that size in
my body!!
