I've had a personal (and scary!) experience with a ferret and glue traps.

I once rented a house with a mouse problem and set out some glue traps
(the really heavy duty plastic ones with about 3/8" of glue - not those
pieces of paper with a thin coating). Naturally, owning ferrets, I put
them only in areas where ferrets are not allowed.

One day, Streudel got out and I was chasing him through one of these
areas, and wouldn't you know it, he ran right onto the trap (needless to
say I caught him easily after that). My biggest concern was that he'd
put his face in the glue and suffocate, but thankfully I managed to grab
him before he did that.

That glue is strong stuff, but I managed to free him from it (luckily,
without injury) and clean him up with some mineral spirits.

The bottom line is: avoid glue traps. I didn't catch any mice with them
anyway. Your best bet is to deprive the mice of their means of entry and
make sure their food/water source inside your home is gone.
