Hey Sue -
 
I saw Hooker doing the same like you described (leaning over the egg and
going backwards) but not with the egg... I have (well, I have to say
*had*) a miniature orange tree in a flowerpot on the floor.  She used to
pick a poor orange from the tree, and then did the same as you said, till
the orange is open, and squeezed and smeared all over the floor.  and
then she left it there for me to clean it.
 
I guess this is the way in nature to eat.
