The simplest way to keep your fuzzies from getting under the bed (not just
because of bed springs, but because they like to poop there, too) is to box
in the rails with 1/4" plywood. Cut the plywood to fit from the top of the
rail to the floor, and from the foot of the bed to just past the headboard
to bump against the wall on both sides. Then cut a piece to fit from side
to side, rail to floor at the foot. At the head of the bed, you'll have to
cut a piece lay under the box spring edge to the wall. You may have to cut
a few odd shaped pieces to block off small openings and do a little cutting
out at the headboard on the sides for hardware. A couple of quarter inch
bolts on each big piece will keep them in place, and wood screws can be
used to hold on any miscellaneous small pieces.

Now you have an excuse to buy a bed skirt to match your bedspread.
