Gerald, you might consider a fish weighing scale.

I bought mine at WalMart for less than $20. It has a digital/electronic
readout and is accurate with my vets scale.

I put a ferret in a plastic grocery bag with handles, hang on the
scales hook, and read the weight instantly.

Best to weigh a sleepy ferret as they think this is great fun and can
bounce around a lot making it harder to get the weight quickly.
