I forgot to answer this one!  I wouldn't get *too* alarmed, but I don't
really like the sound of what you're describing.  Maybe one of the Drs. will
have more thorough input, but instinct makes me suspect that since ferrets
don't do a heck of a lot of grooming (like dogs and unlike cats), that
Bailey's `not keeping herself clean' is not the problem.  There may be some
underlying problem, perhaps just a skin problem, maybe something more.  Maybe
it's just got something to do with under- or over-secretion of oils due to
previous disease and/or age.  But I think you should have your vet take a
look.  S/he might just prescribe some special shampoo or something, or s/he
might want to run a couple of tests.  At any rate I think it bears looking
into.  Drs.?
