INTERIOR DECORATOR FERRETS
You know the type- they've got to move everything in their cage around!
Janeal posted yesterday about her ferret moving the litter box and food
dish. Fortunately, I have experience with "Martha Stewart wannabes."

Regarding the litter box- go to your local hardware store and buy two spring
clamps (they look like giant clothes pins). Clamp two sides of the box to
the cage, and voila!- frustrated ferret. The nice part of this arrangement
(as opposed to twist ties, bolts, etc.) is that the clamps are easy to
remove so that you can take the pan out of the cage for thorough cleaning.

Regarding the food bowl (works for water bowls too)- go to your local pet
supermarket and visit the bird aisle. Purchase a bird dish that attaches to
the side of the cage. I prefer the stainless steel bowls that sit inside a
black metal ring and wing-nut clamp onto the cage. They come in a nice
variety of sizes for home cage or travel cage. Just be sure to secure the
bowl to the ring with a binder clip or else your ferret will push the bowl
out of the ring. Attach the bowl to the cage at such a height that the
ferret stands on the rim of the bowl to eat (not too high 2-3" off of the
cage floor), and your ferret won't dig food out of the bowl either.

(These suggestions work well for car travel too to keep things in place.)
