Hi guys,

I just received a polite letter from Chris Pepper, the National Audubon
Society webmaster <[log in to unmask]>. He explained that his
address and <[log in to unmask]> are for Internet problems, not for
the actual Audubon Society. So far, he's wonderfully polite, although
obviously frustrated at receiving lots of mail for the Audubon Society...

All this means, of course, is that everyone is doing great in sending out
their e-mail to the Audubon Society! Wonderful! Every mail counts, just be
aware that some can count in the opposite direction, if the people can make
no difference, and feel bombarded by mail!

He left the web site address for the California office
<http://www.audubon-ca.org/> and stated that, to his knowledge, only the
Californian sector of the Audubon society holds any policy on ferrets. His
words were:

"...the [National Audubon Society] does not have and does not ever expect to
have a policy on ferrets (domestic or otherwise)..."

I'm just writing this in the hopes that people can taper off writing to this
particular person, so they can save their bandwidth for those able to make a
difference in this, and Kodo's, situation.

In response to my begging (face it, I *was* begging!) for people not to
write to Pat Veesart of the Sierra Club... Pat has received only one e-mail
since that time, and I consider that amazing, since I was silly enough to
release the exact wording out to the FML <sigh>. I have been keeping
contact with Pat since the first mail, and now he (oh, Pat is male by the
way, I'm embarressed that I got it wrong...) is more amenable to listening
to me chatter on about the California issue. So, thank you everyone, for
halting the e-mail traffic to Pat's door. So far, it looks as though it
won't be long before Pat is on our side :o) and since he has political
leanings (he is a County Planning Commissioner), if I can get him on our
side, he may be able to do some good. In spite of his opinion that he has
nothing to do with it, every little bit helps.

Thanks guys,

Sam and the frisky five (in memory of Guy)
