You should clean the litterbox everyday,sometimes twice a day.  I use
wood pellets like for woodburning stoves.I scoop waste out in the morning
and change entire litter every night.Also some kibble makes the poop
smell worse.  I have six ferrets and they never get a bath unless they
get into something.I also change their bedding every week.They don't
smell any worse than a dog does.normal animal smell.  Hope this helps,
