Two of my furkids have adrenal, and I was treating with powdered
melatonin tablets mixed in Furo-tone until I was able to get
deslorelin. They got deslorelin last Monday, and the ferret specialist
told me to stop the melatonin. After around 36 hr. with no melatonin,
my Rhys started showing a bit more assertiveness than is usual. A week
without the melatonin, and Rhys is trying to stash one of the females
is a corner, dragging her by her ear. He stopped it and hasn't repeated
it since I fussed at him, but... I need to get a handle on things
quickly, because we got a new boy from Ferrets Unlimited to add to
Rhys's group. Rhys is doing what seems to be a normal bit of dominance
wrestling, not causing any punctures to the new boy's skin, but.. At
least the new boy (still working on the name) has gotten Rhys a bit
out of his funk over losing Frost.

And since you are already reading, let me adk for advice about a sist
on Rhys's ear. It is perfectly spherical with a scab on one side, just
above the opening to the inner ear. It doesn't seem to pain him, but
then, he doesn't even complain about a nail clipped too short. Do I
leave it alone and see how things go, or do I puncture and drain it
like a human sist?

With respect,
Lori in Ohio
