Hilbert must want Mornie to do more upper body resistance work.  Steve
found Hilbert on the keyboard, having hit eject, and Mornie doing
chin-ups on the out-thrust DVD tray Hilly had so kindly provided.
 
Hardware stores have expandable fit-ins which can protect ferrets from
the danger of screens.  Some have metal screens in the two sliding pieces
but others have a sheet of metal with vents (to prevent rain from getting
in while allowing for air exchange).  Simply open the window, slide the
sides to fit the window snugly, then close the window firmly against the
top.  They've worked marvelously well for us.
 
Christa, if your Maggie is fat (and you say "very fat") that in itself
could make her more sluggish.  Get a vet exam to make sure you can impose
exercise and diet safely, then go to...
 
The only possibly safe way to use the ears is to soak them thoroughly
first.  You don't want a life-threatening blockage!  Go with Cheweasels,
Foamy Fries, Marshall Chews, or other dense gelatin products made for
ferrets instead.  Just use those in moderation to avoid the runs.
