In reference to Diplo-Mats: if your door jam is wider than 5" be SURE to
tell them. I am finding out that trimming these things is MISERABLE.
Otherwise, the exact same characteristics which are making them horrible to
trim look like they might make them a more viable solution for the carpet
than the usual door runner we've used.

I REALLY enjoyed the loving and happy things people said today about
ferrets, kindness to ferrets, teaching about ferrets, praise for ferrets
when they do well (They will do ANYTHING for praise we've found.), and other
well-informed, experienced, loving things. Okay, that's not grammatical,
but you know what I mean. I found myself multiple times exclaiming "YES!".
Liked the home news coming out, too, so am putting a bit from here.

Spot is acting like his NORMAL self today and he passed a good size, normal
turd. (Ah, ferret people...) so I think he's past it (ouch, a pun) -- at
least I hope so.

'Chopper is starting to need water in quantities which are easier to get
from a bowl, but she is still worshiped by all and is downright bossy when
she isn't stealing my neckbrace (favorite game) or kissing (favorite
pastime). She'll turn 7 on Aug. 1st. It's about time (now or soon) to let
her commandeer the master bathroom and have visits from the others everyday
if that isolation doesn't depress her. Wish we'd been able to catch her
cardiomyopathy earlier, but her's was asymptomatic.

Meeteetse is practising her flirting techniques for when Bob visits us. Her
routine includes: making cute, kissing, kissing the insides of nostrils
(well), kissing the bottoms of feet and backs of knees, rubbing her bum
along the adored one's sock or where the sock would normally be when worn,
etc.

Jumpstart remembered that he can leap over the ferret force fields (Weasel
Watcher Barriers) in one bound but then he forgot again. He also discovered
that he can escape from the cage but then forgot again. Jumper isn't too
swift of mind, but he has Alfread E. Newman ears, soft-as-down fur, and
just the sweetest temperment a ferret could have.

Warpie was going to stay under the tape shelves yesterday till we agreed
that she should always have free-romp of the entire house, so I took the
top off a perfume we keep around (for their self-esteem post-surgically and
when they are sick). She came out immediately to check out the perfume
bottle. She also got a bag full of film lodged behind a bookcase just
because she knew that I wanted to spend 45 minutes getting it out -- hey,
creating a game for Mom. Heck, she's a ferret -- one with tender kissies
and a bakery-smelling sleepy belly.

Ashling has acquired a recent love for my arm pits so I had to stop using
antipersperant (warning!). She likes to climb in my shirt and rub her head
in my axillae. "Look at me! I am powerful! I have Mommy stink!!!!!!!!"

Scooter is being Scooter -- slow on the uptake but exceedingly happy to hug
and to give slooshy kisses. He's decided that Mommy kisses on his
malformed hand are useful and shoves it up to my face now.

Steve brought me home roses on Saturday because he says I am being such a
diligent ferret nurse and deserve them. I got lucky getting him, that's
for sure.

Oh, our guys don't like the freeze-dried crickets so far, so unless that
changes Bob can snack on them on his way home -- no, wait, he's not perfect
so that means he's not a ferret which means that he will probably want to
save the crickets to give to perfect beings! (Yeah, we tease each other,
and this means he's going to find some way to get me back. Oh-oh. Got to
duck fast! BTW, for those who don't know: Bob, Sean Connery and I are all
triplets. Nope, I'm not going to explain, except maybe to Sean Connery.)
