Hello to all of you ferret lovers out there! This FML is the best thing
this side of the Rainbow bridge. My deepest sympathy to all who have lost
loved ones, it is one of the hardest moments of life to go thru.

I have 5 ferrets now, 2 female, 3 male, and I love them all dearly. My
newest addition, Ziggy, the second female with unknown history or age,
guessing around 4 1/2 belonged to freinds of ours. I had kept her when
they vacationed in early spring, while visiting Memorial weekend I had
picked up Ziggy and just did a quick "just checking her out" as all of
our "kind" do and found her vulva swollen. I showed my freind and begged
her to get to the vet ASAP, which confirmed my suspicion. They were not
willing to pay for the surgery, and just wanted her to be happy for what
time she had left and would help her over when she began suffering. I was
deeply saddened by their choice, but she was not mine to care for. We
stayed with them over the 4th of July where Ziggy was in heaven chortiling,
ear cleaning, and just in general being a "mother hen" to my 4 youngin's.

After we returned home they called and said how depressed she was, would
not come out of her cage, not playing, and eating almost nothing. The big
question"did I want her?" She would be happy, well taken care of and I
would know how to care for her when she became "sick". So, now I have
Ziggy. We went to our vet yesterday and set up surgery for 3 weeks from
today.

Please, this is my first adrenal and I would love to hear what to expect
how to keep her after surgery, Should I build her up with lots of protein
(Chicken gravy?) before? Currently she weighed in at 1.4 which she is
almost twice the size of my petite cinnamon 1.2 lbs . She eats well, and
seems to have no problem adjusting here. That was one of our main concerns
as to why I waited the 3 weeks. Even if you have not experienced adrenal
surgery, please keep us in your prayers for Aug.8.

Thank God for each and everyone of you!
Debbie
