Today is a sad day.

Zeus came with his buddy, Harley, to live with us just a couple months ago.
He was a yellow bag of energy. You see, he was just neutered. His dark
eyes were always full of mischief and he certainly lived for trouble.

I could never be mad at this guy for longer than 10 seconds, he is the
most energic of the bunch and very playful. He finally got rid of all the
yellowness and became a beautiful DEW boy, he was certainly very boyish in
his playfulness, paws grabbing everything, hind legs wide apart whenever he
jumped or ran.

He was just 11 months old.

Just a few hours ago, the vet called to report that Zeus couldn't handle it
after the exporatory surgery and decided that it was time to go.

Right now, I am exhaused and very depressed.

Yes, the postmodium is being done as we speak. So far, the vet could see
that there was cancer on his pancreas and his adernals. He did not
operated on them because he was afraid that it will stressed Zeus more
and he would have died on the table. He also thought his spleen has
helicobactria infection in it. But Zeus was sicker than what was found
so far because the vet does not think any of these would have made him die
yet. The tissue samples will be sent out and I will find out the results
later.

Why did I have the postmodium done? Two reasons: one is to know why he has
died and if it was anything I could have done to prevent this, and if it
was contagious to my other ferrets.

I did everything I could, and I'm dreading the vet bill. My vet is the
best around here and has been very genenous to me.

Zeus will be cremated and I think I will let his ashes fly in the wind
over a canyon or the ocean. This will help me say goodbye and let myself
emotionally heal.
