Well, the saying is "If life hands you lemons, make lemonaide." Anyone
thirsty? *G*

As some of you may recall, I'd posted earlier about moving into our new
house and setting up a ferret room. We were so excited and making plans on
how to decorate it. Well, the the worst happened...the deal fell thru on
the house, and we have to move by the end of this month as our apartment is
already leased to someone else. Faced with no place to live, and having
waaay too many animals to hide from potential landlords, everyone told us
we really needed to get rid of most of the animals. NO WAY!

Luckily, my in-laws are letting us move in with them as it looks like
they'll be moving out of state soon and we'll be able to continue living in
their house. The unlucky part is that they don't like ferrets and won't
allow them in the house.

After some discussion, we've decided to get a portable storage building
(8'x12') to put in the back yard. Bought the window A/C today, ordered the
building, and are just waiting for them to deliver and build it next week.
We'll put the vinyl flooring down, and insulate and panel on our own before
we move the fuzzies in. At first I was afraid having the animals outside
would create the "out of sight, out of mind" phenonemon, but we've decided
to put it close to the house and make this an entertainment room, complete
with futon, tv, reading lamp - and an alarm clock for when I fall asleep
out there :-)

Basically, we're going to deck it out just like we were planning on doing
for the room - ferret runs and tunnels all over the place. The room has
double doors, so to prevent the fuzzies from escaping when we open the
door, we're putting in a baby gate.

I don't remember seeing any posts in the FML regarding this type of set up,
but I have seen many posts from people that feel they are forced to give up
their ferrets because they must move into a house where fuzzies, or any pet
for that matter, are not allowed. I realize this may not be an option for
some situations, but I'm hoping that maybe it can be an option for some
that need to rent, and allow them to keep their fur-kids. While landlords
might not allow ferrets in the house, I'd be willing to bet that most
wouldn't mind this kind of set up. And the good thing about the portable
building is that if you move, you can have the building moved, also.
