I have not had much contact with Calgary today, have had a problem getting
in touch with the woman who is supposed to pick up the MoneyGram and pass
that on to Monica to cover White Fang's surgery. Perhaps she has just been
very busy today. This evening I left a message on her machine authorizing
her to give the funds to Monica of the ferret club in Calgary. Monica will
pay White Fang's bill and pick her up and care for her until she is over the
surgery, then I think we will transfer her to Kelleen until she can be
picked up by one of Eydie's contacts and brought to her shelter in NM.

White Fang is spending the night at the vet's tonight so they can make sure
that she is eating before releasing her. I have not heard from Jonathan
today either so I will assume that there are no problems with the
arrangements that Monica has worked out with him.

Many have expressed a desire to adopt this little one. As I said in the
last FML, her health is our first concern, we will only do what we feel is
best for her. This is one reason why she will stay in Calgary with Monica
for a while before traveling. Our second concern will be assessing her
personality and ability to get along with humans, other pets, and other
ferrets. Then, believe me, we will be bery selective in where this little
one goes. She is our little miracle, gang, we can all be proud.

For now, we pretty much have little White Fang's travel itinerary planned.
We only seem to lack transportation from the border of Canada to Moscow,
Idaho. Can anyone help us with this leg of her journey? It will probably
be a couple of weeks from now, to allow plenty of recovery time for her,
first. Now that she has had the surgery, there is less urgency in this
situation. If you can help, please contact her travel agent Eydie Fox at

Interesting thing happening, I had one or two e-mails on the first day that
I posted that I wanted to help this little one, that said they had gone
ahead and put a check in the mail. Then as the days passsed, I had a few
more actually e-mail me that they HAD mailed their checks, well, not a
single one has arrived yet. I get periodic donations and there are no
problems, so why have I not received these? I wonder if I should contact
the Post Office on Monday, that is unless there are alot today. If you have
not yet sent your check, please do so, we need funds badly, to reimburse the
kind person who loaned me the money to wire up there so White Fang's surgery
would not be put off any longer.

On another note... Festus went to the vet again today, he had gone last
Thursday and was put on Amoxicillin and we were giving hairball medicine in
greater doses also. There has only been more decline in his condition. So
back to the vet today, and this time the vet felt a "hard cylindrical lump"
that was not there Thursday. I HAVE to build him up over the weekend and he
will have surgery Monday or Tuesday to get this thing out. Doc says that it
is too hard to be something other than a foreign object. How do these kids
find these things? We are all so careful...<scream>.....<sigh>

Festus is now hardly touching the duck soup, so guess we are back to force
feeding him. He is the most hard-headed ferret I have yet to meet. He
sniffs the soup, which has to have just the right ingredients, be carefully
warmed, with two squirts of Ferretone on the top, and served in a small
crock dish...anyway, he sniffs, he might take one lick, then he turns his
head away wrinkles his nose and puts it in the air, sticks his tongue out
and smacks a couple of times then dives under the nearest t-shirt or towel
that is in his kennel and hides his head. Anyone care to interpret THAT
little move? He used to just wrinkle his nose and make a face, then
gobble it up, at least half of it. I KNOW he likes it, but now he won't
even take it.

So, I guess I will be up with him several times tonight force feeding him.
Sleep is only a distant memory to me of late. But these guys are worth it.
I just need to buy stock in a Coffee company.....and the ones manufacturing
the ingredients to the duck soup. (It is getting scary, I am almost
acquiring a taste for that stuff myself...well, I said "almost".) Keep your
fingers crossed for little Festus...he only weighed 1.3 pounds today.

On the e-mail... if anyone has sent something that I have not responded to,
please resend it. Mail has slowed down and I think it is because I have
been so affraid of losing something that I have left the "new mail" in the
"in" box, and I am wondering if my "in" box is full. How will I know if it
is full? How many e-mails can AOL hold? If overloaded, does it dump the
newest mail or the oldest? You computer experts out there, please help me
here, thanks.

Guess that is all that I know. If anyone could figure out how to get
"sleep" into a little pill that I could take, I would greatly appreciate it.

Give all your fuzzies a special hug and tell them the story of our little
miracle, White Fang.

Trish
