There were TWO similar cases on the same day, so that is what has been
confusing people, and even confused one news report for a tv station
which covered both areas. One was in Ohio and the other was in a
neighboring area of Kentucky.

From Ohio tv station 12:

This part is on the Kentucky one where according to the news reports I
have read and watched the illnesses among the animals and the level of
both animal and human feces in the home was such that a Hazmat team was
called in. They said that there is real worry about zoonotic diseases,
and the home may need to be destroyed.

>Dozens of animals are found dead in a Kenton County home. Police and
>animal control officers were called to Bethel Grove Road in Visalia
>Tuesday afternoon.
> ...
>about 20 animals are dead and dozens are ill... The owner of the
>home, Emily Mardis, 68, is facing 19 counts of animal cruelty.

This part is about the Ohio case from the same source:

>A neglect complaint today leads to the removal of animals from a
>Reading home.
>
>SPCA and the Health Department were led to a home at West Crest and
>Keith Drive this afternoon.
>
>We're told six dogs, two ferrets, a bunny, two guinea pigs, 20
>reptiles and at least 24 birds were living in filthy conditions.
>
>Officials say some of the animals were in cages with up to five
>inches of feces.
>
>The owner of the home was cited for animal cruelty.

and from Pet Abuse that person in OH:

>Charges: Misdemeanor
>
> Alleged: Judith Vonder-Heide

Both are pretty classic for hoarding cases.

When searching for those who have abused ferrets I have found it
useful to do separate searches there for

ferrets
exotic

but it looks somewhat revamped so I don't know about now
