Having several hobs that weigh in at 6 lbs. during the off season I
have not seen a problem with too large of kits. Large kits generally
happen when there are only one or two in the Jill regardless of the
size of the hob. My big boys are not bred specifically for size, they
just happen to be large. I have seen a trend for a particular color of
ferret in the last few years be extremely small in size. IMO a ferret
is what it is and size should not be an issue. I would tend to stay
away from using an exceptionally small Jill but know others who breed
with them and have encountered no problems.
