I have a question for more experienced ferret caretakers -
 
One of my ferrets, age 3.5, had a bad reaction to a distemper vaccination
about 5-6 weeks ago.  We were lucky; the vet treated him appropriately; he
was able to come home the same day, and after a couple of days of seeming
exhausted we felt he was fine again.  He looks great, is sweet-tempered,
eats & eliminates well, etc.
 
But he seems to have slowed down.  He has always been one busy weasel,
intolerant of being held, going a mile a minute, resting far less than his
roommate.  Since the vaccine reaction, he is still playful, but for shorter
periods & not as often.  he is much more likely to go back to bed after
playing for a short time, or to not come out of his room when given the
opportunity.  And he lets me hold him for longer periods - not that that's
a complaint... All of which I'd consider normal if i was just meeting him,
but it is different from his behavior before.
 
What do you think?  Is he still in the process of a long recovery from a
trauma?  going thru a normal low-energy phase?  entering middle age?  Or
should we worry that he experienced long-term damage from the reaction?
Are there commonly long term after-effects i should ask the vet to look
for?
