Dook to all FMLers and fuzzies alike!

We hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

I wanted to add something to the Federal 501(c)3 tax-exempt disecussion.
Most of you know that we've been putting together a club for NY/NJ, and
that we are going for fully tax-exempt status. One thing that I can add
to the topic, is that a shelter or club must be a corporation in order to
be considered eligible for Federal 501(c)3. Another thing, is that when
you write the check to the IRS for the filing fee, the check must be drawn
on the corporate bank account. So, you would have to have a separate bank
account in order to file 501(c)3. This is not the case for State Tax
exempt recognition, they will take any check, as long as they are paid.
Once you receive your State Paperwork back, you can file Federal.

I'm no expert, but I have read NY NJ and Federal paperwork, and have
started the process. Believe me, we're talking about POUNDS of paperwork.
Again, I'm not an authority, but this is the information I got from the
instructions. If I am wrong, please feel free to correct me.

Dooks to all!
